Bijou
Another one of South Lake Tahoe’s oldest neighborhoods is Bijou. Bijou is centrally located in two parts, Bijou 1 and Bijou 2, with the latter being a smaller section towards Johnson Blvd and the west side of Highway 50. This area is close to the lake, national forest service land, meadows and boasts some stunning views. Bijou is one of South Lake’s nicest public beaches and the pier is a prominent part of the summer water sports scene. One can rent jet skis, power and sail boats, parasails, paddle boats and paddle boards. Other neighborhood attractions include a public golf course, the library, and community park and recreation complex. The Bijou Community Park has a playground, dog park, skate park and BMX area. The recreation complex offers a year around ice rink, seasonal playground, indoor gym and swimming pool. All of this is conveniently located close to dining, shopping, snow sports and nightlife entertainment.
There are close to 1,200 homes of all varieties in this area. Everything from entry level, mid entry, high end luxury homes, new construction and remodels can be found here. The average home is 3 beds, 2 baths with 1,300sq ft. Bijou Pines is a sub neighborhood that has old Tahoe style cabins and chalets, which are highly sought after.
