Restoring protections to Bears Ears will likely spark legal fights
 
When U.S. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland recommended last month that full protections be restored to three national monuments in the wilderness of Utah’s red rock country and off the New England coast, conservationists expected quick action. No drawn-out negotiations with Congress were needed; President Joe Biden could undo former President Donald Trump’s actions reducing the size of the protected lands and opening them up to development with the stroke of a pen.
Turns out, bringing back environmental protections takes time.
“It’s easy to tear things down, but takes longer to put them back together,” says Steve Bloch, the legal director for the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance. “I expect the administration is doing its due diligence to make sure the restoration is as durable as possible.”
Biden is expected to return the boundaries of Utah’s Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments to their original size, and restore safeguards to a large marine reserve off the coast of New England. The Clean Up The Lake team of scuba divers who are cleaning all 72 miles of Lake Tahoe have now recovered 8,123 pounds of trash from below the surface. Since May, they have cleaned up more than 22 miles along the East Shore, pulling up 9,281 pieces of trash. Thank you to Tahoe Blue Vodka for the $100,000 matching gift that inspired more than 135 Tahoe Fund donors, including $25,000 from Vail Resorts, to support this important project.

Absorption rate of 2 months real-estate inventory, as compared to the buying demand based on sales, is once again starting to decline due to a mid to late summer influx of buyers. This, the dog days of summer, is showing very strong buyer demand however this seasoned crop of buyers are reticent to get involved with multiple offer and over bidding as more inventory enters the market place. The Federal rates are also signaling a consistent low and attractive interest rate, fueling the affordability as prices continue to rise which bodes well for a strong and active late summer and early fall market. 
 
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the inventory increases that is being seen in the market as predicted. This will allow for a more balanced market and for a more diverse inventory to appeal to the buyer’s needs. Sellers are still in the driver’s seat with less than 2 months active listings on the market.
 
3-5 months inventory is considered the range for an equal playing field when buyers and seller negotiate, providing additional options for buyers to consider when making an offer with a bit more leverage. This is a good sign considering the buyer exhaustion experienced over the past year which has soured the buying experience.

First eFoil Charging Network in Tahoe Opens at Homewood Marina
 
Environmental stewardship is at the heart of Homewood Resort Marina’s operations, with the Marina and its management company JMA Ventures, LLC continuing their commitment to leading the transition to zero emission watersports at Lake Tahoe. In partnership with the Tahoe Fund and Superior Boat Repair & Sales, the Homewood Marina announced today that it has installed the first eFoil charging network at Lake Tahoe. The charging stations are now available for public use.
 
“Expanding our footprint in electric watersports is a priority of our company because it aligns with our commitment to finding innovative ways to help protect Lake Tahoe for current and future generations,” said Kevin Mitchell, Homewood Resort general manager. “The popularity of eFoiling on Lake Tahoe continues to grow, and we’re thrilled to offer the ability to quickly recharge them at the Marina.
